Teddy Newcomer Jr.

Candidate RI Senate District 5

Why I'm Running

I’m running for State Senate because this district is my home. My wife and I have lived in Providence for more than twenty years, raised our children here, and watched them grow up in our public schools. I’ve built my career and my businesses in this community, working side by side with the people who keep District 5 moving the small business owners, employees, and families who make our neighborhoods what they are. After more than 25 years in the hospitality industry and as a small business owner, I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made at the State House affect our streets, our schools, and our ability to make a living. My opponents talk in big ideological terms, but too often the basics are still broken: school buildings that need attention, small businesses buried in red tape, families squeezed by rising costs. I’m running to bring practical leadership and real-world experience to the Senate to focus less on political games and more on fixing problems, strengthening our public schools, supporting local employees & employers, and making sure District 5 is a place where families can afford to stay and thrive.I believe government should work like a good neighborhood business: transparent, responsive, and accountable to the people it serves. As your senator, I’ll listen, show up, and fight for results you can see, cleaner, safer streets, stronger schools for our kids, and a better environment for small businesses and families across District 5.
